The Diagnosticum Radiological Institute

Headquarters of the Radiological Institute Diagnosticum

The Radiological Institute Diagnosticum is one of the most advanced medical centers in Germany. The Institute belongs to the German University of Witten-Herdecke (Universität Witten/Herdecke . Alfred-Herrhausen-Straße 50 / 58448 Witten / Germany) directed by the medical doctors Martin Butzlaff and Eckart Hahn.

With more than 25 years of history the Diagnosticum Institute has the most sophisticated technologies for diagnosis and prevention.

One of the objectives of the Diagnosticum Institute is the early diagnosis of diseases to prevent their appearance, development and chronicity. For this purpose, it has a multidisciplinary team of doctors.

Diagnosticum and the spine

The Diagnosticum Radiological Institute has the latest advances ino3D Computerized Axial Tomography equipment technology from Philips y Siemens.

The latest technology makes it possible to combine minimally invasive surgical techniques, avoiding catheterization, for example, for healing or pain reduction in certain diseases. The Diagnosticum Institute has been at the forefront in developing these minimally invasive therapies.

More than half of all people over the age of 30 suffer from back pain in Germany and have disc problems. Degenerative diseases of the spine are the most common cause of disability and work absenteeism. In 2002, companies lost twelve thousand million Euros (according to data from the German Institute of Occupational Medicine and Labor Protection). Interventional Radiology offers alternative and conservative techniques to treat these problems.

Archieva by Phillips

The Diagnosticum Institute has performed more than 150,000 minimally invasive spinal operations remotely controlled by state-of-the-art imaging systems.

In cases of discopathies in which results have not been achieved with traditional conservative therapies in which the acute pain remains for more than two weeks, the MRI puts into practice treatment methods directed by 3D Tomography systems that only require local anesthesia and can be very effective:

  • Facet denervation
  • Periradicular therapy
  • Percutaneous Laser Musclotomy
  • Vertebroplasties

Since 2005 and up to now the Radiological Institute of Mülheim has carried out several scientific studies to determine imaging the universal extent of a cranio-flow deflection or minor intervertebral disruption of the Atlas, postulated by R.C. Schümperli since 1993. The effectiveness of the AtlasPROfilax® Method for the correction of the cranio-flow detour of the Atlas was also investigated. The scientific studies carried out in the Diagnosticum Institute have corroborated both the thesis of the existence of a Cranio-Flow Deflection also called Minor Intervertebral Atlas Disorder (MID of the Atlas) in the human being (confirmed in more than 98% of the studied cases) as well as the effectiveness and innocuousness of the AtlasPROfilax® Method for its correction.
